(June 23th, 2013)

I don’t do a lot of weddings any more, and the ones I do currently tend to be limited to friends and family.

It is always wonderful and fun to be able to share and document part of their precious life journeys together. For that, I am grateful.

Rice Design Alliance’s 3rd Annual “Anyting That Floats” downtown Houston.

We were expecting epic fails. But most of the crafts floated, more or less. It was lots of fun. Looking forward to next year.

An accidental field trip to the Houston Zoo. The big cats were at least cooperative in this summer heat.

Finally made it out to the annual Alabama-Coushatta PowWow in Livingston, TX.

A 2 day festival which I was only able to attend Friday. Somewhat smaller crowd due to graduation activities. It was nonetheless still spectacular. Looking forward to next year.

Part of the “100 Images of Summer” series.  Sometimes it is just good to take fun photos.

(June 2nd, 2013)

The morning after the 27th annual AIA SandCastle Competition on Galveston’s East Beach. We got there at 6am, hoping that the sand structures survived the night.

We were not disappointed. It was an interested mix of spectacular structures and ruins. A zeitgeist of pop culture.

Relatively few people. Some joggers, some dog walkers, a couple of photographers who had the same idea. City workers who were there to clean the beach of waste and ocean debris.

More importantly, a much more civilized outing than trying to do this in the middle of heat and humidity of the festival afternoon the day before.

And we got our shots before a storm hit 2 hours later.

In search of breakfast after, and we stopped along the way near where there used to be a hotel on the pier. Now it is an amusement park. We got indoors just as the storm came.

New images as part of the “Atlantis Dream” series.

Way, way at the other side of the beach are people fishing, with the Gulf of Mexico as backdrop, and storm clouds looming.
